What is Student Representation?
The Flemish Union of Students (VVS) is the umbrella organisation for Flemish student councils. We are a platform where student representatives (and independent students) come together to form positions, critically discuss decisions and share knowledge.
But student representatives, also known as “stuvers”, don’t just exist at VVS. In fact, stuvers are the official representatives of students at many different levels. They do always represent a collective of students in all kinds of education- and student-related files.
As a stuver, you act on behalf of fellow students within your programme, at the faculty, department or unit, at the educational institution or even at Flemish and European policymakers. You can fight small battles – just think of the timing of the publication of the exam schedules within your programme – but also fight big wars – just think of the rearrangement of the academic year or the compulsory reorientation after a bad first year.
At VVS, there are several voluntary representative positions available to students. Interested in expressing your commitment to your fellow students at the level above that of your individual institution? See what you can do for us!
Or do you already know with certainty what commitment you want to make at VVS?
